Charlie Daniels Band - Super Hits
When I joined a CD club a long time ago, I had some free selections coming my way. Not knowing much about the Charlie Daniels Band but wanting to own a CD of theirs, I chose Super Hits. I'm glad I did for this CD contains some great country music that leans heavily on rock music sounds. The Charlie Daniels Band is one of the founders of the Americana format.
With the events of September 11, 2001, the song "In America" has a poignant and powerful message. Charlie Daniels is one of those people that wear's their heart on their sleeve and says what he thinks, regardless if the consequences. Both versions of "Uneasy Rider" and "Long Haired Country Boy" are evidence, along with "In America."
"The Devil Went Down To Georgia" is Charlie's most well known hit. It was a pop and country smash. The song is still played on country radio and classic rock stations. This version contains the original un-censored line that was changed to Son of a gun instead of SOB for radio purposes. If you are looking for some great classic country/rock by a great band look no further than the Charlie Daniels Band.
