Daryle Singletary - Daryle Singletary
Hailed as the "new traditionalist" keeper of the flame (traditional country's), Daryle Singletary emerged on the scene in early 1995 with his honky tonk single, "I'm Livin Up To Her Low Expectations." While it wasn't bigger than a Billboard Hot Country Singles and Tracks Top 40 hit, the song nonetheless created a buzz that quickly spread throughout the country music community. His following singles became Top 10 smash hits.
"I Let Her Lie" is one of those songs that are as traditional in theme as modern country music gets. The song, one of Daryle's hits, talks about a guy who looks through his girlfriend's transgressions until she is gone. Daryle's vocals pull the listener into his world where they instantly feel his pain. Daryle's other hit single from this self-titled album was "Too Much Fun." A catchy song about a person who doesn't believe that you can have too much fun, it soon rose to the top of the charts.
These three songs are indicative of the album as a whole and showcase a versatile vocalist who knows what to do with his voice, whether it's a fun uptempo song, a tear in your beer ballad or just another honky tonk song. A great debut album by an artist who has yet to veer from the traditional side of country music.
