The Derailers - Here Come the Derailers
The Derailers are a very energetic group and have released their debut album on the Lucky Dog label. Simply titled, Here Come The Derailers, it offers a small taste of what this group is capable of producing. They are bringing a fresh sound into country music and livening things up just a little. One of their favored instruments is the Telecaster. It is responsible for what I term the "Buck Owens/Dwight Yoakam" sound.
They start out the album with a fun song called, "More of Your Love." It has a good rhythm that makes you want to get up and dance. I enjoyed "Your Guess Is Good As Mine." It followed a long-time philosophy of mine that you just need to take life as it comes. They even show us that their talent doesn't stop at singing on the entirely instrumental "Country A Go-Go." You can tell that they are all having a great time with that one. "All The Rage in Paris" is as close as this group comes to a ballad on this album.
This album will appeal to fans of Buck Owens and Dwight Yoakum. That distinctive sound is definitely there. It will also appeal to those who like the musical combination of Bakersfield, Texas Twang and Rockabilly. This is a talented group and I look forward to hearing more from them. They seem to really enjoy doing what they do.
