Diamond Rio - Greatest Hits
With their first number one hit, "Meet In The Middle," Diamond Rio demonstrated themselves to be an enormously talented group and a big asset to country music. In 1997, they released a greatest hits CD containing the best singles from their first four albums, as well as two new songs "How Your Love Makes Me Feel" and "Imagine That."
This is simply one talented group. The proof is heard in fun loving songs like "Norma Jean Riley," "Bubba Hyde," and "How Your Love Makes Me Feel." It is also apparent in the story songs they sing. "In A Week Or Two" is a description of the intentions of one man who waited too long to tell his girl how he really felt, and "Mama Don't Forget To Pray For Me" is a touching one-sided conversation between a man whose career has taken him on the road and his mother back home. One of the most endearing love songs I've heard is "She Misses Him On Sundays The Most." It's a lovely story about an older couple, and all the special little things they used to do together before the husband died: the Monday night bowling league, going out to dinner every Wednesday, but especially Sundays spent going to church and for long drives.
Diamond Rio wasn't named CMA Vocal Group Of The Year four times for nothing. If you're looking for a CD to start you Diamond Rio collection, you can't go wrong with this one.
