Elvis Presley - The King of Rock 'n' Roll - The Complete 50's Masters
When Elvis started out in the business, his high lonesome hillbilly voice didn't appeal to everyone. However, with the "thumping washboard" sound of his "That's All Right Mama," Sam Phillips of Sun Records knew he had a gold mine. For the next three years, Elvis Presley recorded some of the finest and most glorious music in history. Every single bit of it is gathered here. It's not all golden. This collection includes young Elvis' hesitant self-purchased recording of "My Happiness," a raw sound that was just good enough to convince the listener the young man might be worth re-listening to. But those initial Sun Sessions, from "That's All Right" to "Mystery Train," were the beginning of a great legacy, and some of the best stuff Sun ever pressed.
Then Elvis moved to RCA Records, where his majesty would be discovered and continued. Sam Phillips may have regretted losing the young Presley, but he'd gained his place in history by launching him on his way. This five disc collection tells a story unlike any other this is where Rock 'N' Roll started, this is where it all came from. From Elvis' Sun Session recordings to his final recording session in June of 1958 (just before he answered Uncle Sam's call and entered military service), these discs chronicle the beginnings of a legend.
In this collection you'll get Elvis' early rock recordings, such as "Shake, Rattle, And Roll," "When My Blue Moon Turns To Gold Again," "Maybelline," "Long Tall Sally," "Money Honey," and "Lawdy Miss Clawdy," there are also Elvis' spiritual gospel tracks "Peace in the
Valley," "Take My Hand Precious Lord," and "I Believe." His early Christmas songs are here, as well, "White Christmas, ""Here Comes Santa Claus," "O Little Town of Bethlehem," and his signature "Blue Christmas." There are also the complete recordings from his first four movies, perhaps the best of them; "Love Me Tender," "Loving You," "Jailhouse Rock," and "Kid Creole." This is the quintessential Elvis, the sound that captured the imagination of a generation, spawned a new genre of music, and continues to entrance and delight today. This is Elvis when he was young, pure, raw, and untamed. This is one of the first and best of the Elvis box sets, well-packaged, packed with music, and every bit worth its purchase.
