Various Artists - For The Love Of The Game
Since Movies like Hope Floats and Pure Country, many film producers are always looking for songs from various genres to make up a soundtrack. Kevin Costner stars in and produced this movie about a baseball player playing his last game. Costner handpicked newcomer Jennifer Day's first single "The Fun Of Your Love" for this soundtrack. The song became Jennifer's only Country Music Top 40 Hit to date.
Vince Gill's rendition of Rodney Crowell's "Loving You Makes Me A Better Man" is simply beautiful. Trisha Yearwood's version of "Something So Right" is gorgeous as well. Any time that I get to hear an old Roy Orbison track, I rejoice, for he is one of the best writer/singers ever to have graced the airwaves. Lyle Lovett turns in a strong performance with "Summer Wind." Kim Richey's "Come Around" made her transition from country writer to pop songstress complete.
If you are looking for one delightful compilation of Pop, Rock, Country, and even some Reggae, look no further than this wonderful soundtrack to "For Love Of The Game."
