Guide Review
Rhett Akins - Friday Night in Dixie
Rhett Akins appeared in 1994 as a new artist on Decca Records. After three marginally successful CDs with Decca, Rhett was released from his contract when Decca closed. Rhett then decided to take his chances and record his music on his own and distribute it through his website where his true fans could pick it up. After releasing Friday Night In Dixie in 2001 via his website, Audium records loved the CD well enough to re-release it while adding four tracks to the collection.

While you'd think that an independently produced CD would not sound as good as one with a bigger budget, Rhett Akins was able to make his best CD yet, sonically and lyrically. There isn't a bad track on the whole CD. There are some uptempo rockers like the title track and "Highway Sunrise," and some smooth ballads like "In Your Love," to the acoustic version of his first hit, "That Ain't My Truck."

If you are looking for a great collection of songs from one of the mid 90's stars, then be sure to pick up Rhett Akins' Friday Night In Dixie.
