The Bottom Line - This album is an absolute must for any Dolly Parton fan. She has not lost one bit of that bubbly enthusiasm that shines through in so much of her music. It will also please the tastes of the general Bluegrass fan.

Dolly Parton - The Grass Is Blue I have been a fan of Dolly Parton since I was in grade school. It all started with her song "Jolene," which has always been "my" song. I quickly became a huge fan, and have never been disappointed with anything she has done. This album is no exception. Dolly returns to her Tennessee roots to record her first album that is entirely Bluegrass. The Sugar Hill record label releases it. Her voice is so pure that it is absolutely perfect for this type of music. She has an enthusiasm for what she does that you hear in the occasional "trademark" giggle of hers here and there in the music. She brought in some friends to help her with the project; and you can hear Patty Loveless and Alison Krauss helping with background vocals (among others). Legendary Bluegrass musician Stuart Duncan also makes an appearance. Reviewed by Jolene Downs.
