Willie Nelson - The Great Divide
Willie Nelson "does it again!" This man never ceases to amaze me. He simply records whatever he wants, whenever he wants. He doesn't care for radio airplay and just loves to record with as many people possible. On The Great Divide, Willie records with Rob Thomas (of Matchbox 20), Lee Ann Womack, Kid Rock, Sheryl Crow, R&B star Brian McKnight and Bonnie Raitt. Lee Ann duet's on the hit single "Mendocino County Line."
If you were expecting to hear a rap song with Kid Rock involved you'd be wrong, not only does Kid Rock (Bob Ritchie) sing, he does so with style. "Last Stand In Open Country" is simply one of the best tracks on the CD. Brian McKnight is an artist who wrote the cross over smash song "Back At One," which Mark Wills took to the Top Ten in 2000. Brian duets with Willie on the great track "Don't Fade Away." One of the more peculiar songs is Willie's version of 80s pop chanteuse Cyndi Lauper's smash ballad "Time After Time." Willie simply takes it and makes it his own. "This Face" is one of my favorites as well because it describes how Willie is reacting to aging.
When looking for a CD by a legend, or simply looking for a CD that is different from the rest but still one of the best there is, pick up The Great Divide. You'll be glad you did.
