Sony Music out of Nashville has released a compilation of 16 great hits from the legendary Johnny Cash. This is volume 2, having released another 16 hit compilation early in 1999. What can you write about a legend like Johnny Cash that hasn't already been said? He is an icon in the field of country music - a true living legend.
Johnny has a very distinctive boom-chick-a-boom guitar beat with his songs that identifies his songs even before he starts to sing. He has always followed his heart with his music, often disturbing the calm waters of the country music community. He helped make the "Rockabilly" sound popular and has collected a large legion of devoted fans.
While the songs on this album are all hits, I was pleased to find that most of them are songs that you rarely hear anymore. Most of the albums that they were originally on are long out of print, so finding them to listen to has been a challenge.
