Lila McCann - Lila
Lila has a fresh sound and you can tell that she genuinely enjoys what she does. This album was recorded when she was a teenager, but she continued to live life as normally as possible while still in high school. She scheduled her touring commitments around her school commitments. She did very little touring while school was in session, and when it came time to graduate she did so with her friends. In a world where it is very easy to just grab the golden ring and run with it, that philosophy showed wisdom beyond her years.
Lila hit the airwaves with "Down Came A Blackbird." It had a really catchy tune and is still a favorite song of mine. She had fun with songs like "I Wanna Fall In Love" and "Yippy Ky Yay." She gets a little more serious with "I'm Already Somebody's Lover." Contrary to the song's title, she is talking about it in a sense that she isn't ready for that commitment on a one-night stand basis. She is already somebody's lover; he just hasn't found her yet. It is a very good song, and she does it really well.
Overall, this is a great album. I think I enjoyed it all the more because she kept the material appropriate for her age level. She wasn't trying to sing about things that had a more adult theme to them. She has a great deal of talent and I hope we see her around for a long time to come.
