Hank Williams III - Lovesick, Broke & Driftin'
When people hear Hank III they immediately think back about the days of Hank Sr., yet if you take the time to listen you will more than likely hear his own unique branding of country with a little Wayne "The Train" Hancock thrown in for good measure.
Immediately upon hearing "Mississippi Mud," I had to repeat it multiple times because it is a song that grabs you and makes you want to get out of your seat and dance around like they guy in the song is prone to do. "One Horse Town" along with a horse-trot pace makes you long for the days of old western movies and programs, while "5 Shots Of Whiskey"is a song with a beautiful dobro featured throughout that I wish every country music fan could have a chance to hear.
Wanting to be remembered as an individual artist is something that everyone in the music business wants, and Hank III is doing a great job creating his own niche, whether it be playing in his punk band or playing honky tonks. "Lovesick, Broke & Driftin'" just happens to be one of the greatest country albums out there. No wonder it debuted at number seventeen on the Billboard album charts.
