Mark Chesnutt - Mark Chesnutt
When Mark Chesnutt was signed with Sony after leaving MCA, I was so happy to think that I'd get to hear new music from him again. I have always enjoyed Mark's songs, and I was lucky enough to get to see him in concert last fall, which made me want to hear new music even more. It was a long wait, but it's well worth the wait.
Mark has always sung traditional country music, and that hasn't changed. The album opens with a bang with "Don't Know Why I Do." The second song, "She Was," is the first single from the album, which I absolutely love! The song takes you through the life of a woman who knew what she wanted and did it. "Population Minus One" is a song co-written by Wendell Mobley, Neil Thrasher and Kent Blazy, and was a cut on Chad Brock's III album last year. The song has spoken verses and a chorus that is sung, and it's a whole lot of fun to listen to. It talks about a guy that moved to the big city and he calls home and says that he realizes he made a mistake.
My favorite song has GOT to be "My Dreams," which shows Mark's fun side (think "Bubba Shot the Jukebox") again. He talks about how life would be if real life was like his dreams. Then, he says maybe not, cuz in his dreams things just too weird. "Then again there is the one when it's a normal day at work and I realize that I'm not wearing pants."
