Patty Loveless - Mountain Soul
Mountain Soul is the sixth album release for Patty Loveless off the Epic label. She is going back to her roots in the hills of Kentucky and releasing a Bluegrass album containing the haunting acoustic instrumentals and harmonies associated with Bluegrass music. Patty's voice is perfect for the carrying all of the different melodies that go with the Bluegrass sound. Her husband, Emory Gordy, Jr. produces the album. Such talents as Earl Scruggs, Travis Tritt, Ricky Skaggs, Jon Randall, Stuart Duncan, Ron Ickes, Jeff White and Rebecca Lynn Howard join her.
The first single off the album, "The Boys Are Back In Town," is being released to general radio. The remaining singles released will be sent to Christian and Americana Stations. In listening to this album, it gives you the feeling that it was recorded not as a job, but with a true love of the music.
This is an excellent Bluegrass Album. It has a great mix of upbeat tempo and slow ballads, all of which she carries flawlessly. If you aren't a fan of Bluegrass, this album may turn you into one. It is hard not to be drawn in by Patty's infectious love of her musical heritage.
