Billy Gilman - One Voice
When is the last time you heard of an 11 year old recording a CD. Given that piece of information, to have that 11 year-old be a little boy is even more startling. It is startling because the average 11 year-old boy is more interested in playing little league baseball or Play Station than the recording of a CD. Also it is known that girls mature before boys and to have a kid with a voice like Billy Gilman's they must be special.
An instant success despite the fact that there was only one moderately hit single, the stunning "One Voice," which was written for Billy, the CD by the same name nonetheless showcased a promising vocal talent that, given time to mature, could become one of the best that country music has to offer. As it stands right now, Billy Gilman is strictly an artist for pre-to-early teen fans.
While he may have a very young target audience, the mere fact that all of his CDs, three of them, are either gold or platinum shows that there is an audience who likes and listens to Billy Gilman. That mere fact alone makes "One Voice" by Billy Gilman a CD that would be a worthy addition to any fan's collection, if they are a parent of a young fan or the young fan themselves.
