Deryl Dodd - Pearl Snaps
Deryl Dodd is a fighter and he came back in full force with Pearl Snaps. The songs on this release are suited just right for his voice and you can tell where his musical roots are firmly planted.
"Honky Tonk Champagne" was the perfect pick for being the first single, and even though it did not make it high enough the Billboard charts, anyone who hears it would wonder why it did not make it to No. 1, let alone the top sixty. It is honky tonk at its finest, along with other such favorites as "Sundown" and "On Earth As It Is In Texas." Deryl could also be another bluegrass star in the making after hearing the upbeat tune, "Where The River Flows."
It amazes me sometimes how so much talent and lust for playing traditional country music is not rewarded with radio play these days. If people would just hear the man playing his music they would become hooked on it, after all, how can you like a person you never hear. That's why I am glad I have this album, because he has true talent as proven on Pearl Snaps.
