George Strait, Isabel Glasser and Lesley Ann Warren in Pure Country
George Strait stars in this 1992 film about a country star, Dusty Wyatt Chandler, that is fed up with the overdone effects at his concerts and takes a walk after a show, and no one can find him. His manager (Lesley Ann Warren) Lula then hires a roadie to lip sync at the next show, dressed as Dusty, while they look for him. Dusty hires on at a farm where he meets Harley Tucker (Isabel Glasser), and falls for her.
Lula finally tracks Dusty down, and she plays dirty and tells Harley that she is Dusty's wife, so Lula doesn't want to see him again. Dusty goes back to performing and at a show in the town she's at for a rodeo, he sends her and her family tickets. (She never knew who he was when she met him.) He sings her "I Cross My Heart" from the stage and a happy ending is in store.
This is a wonderful movie with great music provided by George Strait, and a fun love story to boot.
