Statler Brothers - Showtime
"Showtime" is the first Statler Brothers album in over five years. It is comprised entirely of new material. The Reid brothers and their families are responsible for writing or co-writing all but two of the new songs. Jimmy Fortune wrote one of the remaining songs and Steve Wariner contributed to the last song. So there are some very strong songs on this album. It is almost entirely comprised of ballads and is a dream album for the ballad lover.
This album stayed true to the old country custom of including gospel tracks. There are two gospel tracks included on this album. Both are original songs and both are very good. Of the two, I really enjoy "I've Got Jesus On My Side." It is a wonderful showcase for the great harmony of the Statler Brothers.
This album is a must have for fans of the Statler Brothers. It showcases the beautiful harmony the Statler Brothers share. Each member of the group gets a chance to showcase their talents individually and then combine again into that sound I could listen to all day. This is a great album to sit down and relax to.
