Tracy Lawrence - Tracy Lawrence
Tracy Lawrence was one of many hatted, handsome young singers to break into country music in 1991, but Tracy wasn't just a handsome face in a big cowboy hat. Beneath that hat was a genuine talent, a high lonesome voice with a true love for traditional country music and a gift for
honky-tonk music.
Tracy's powerful delivery shines on the title track, a love-gone-wrong song; he sings for the hard-working with "Somebody Paints the Wall," sorrow dripping in every note. "Runnin' Behind" speaks to everyone who just can't seem to get things together. Each song is a delight, though, not just the hits that showed Tracy was a talented force to be reckoned with. From slow two-steppin' rhythms in "Dancin' To Sweet 17," to the kickin' good time swing of "I Hope Heaven Has a Honky Tonk," Tracy knows how to sing a country song.
With the superfluity of fantastic music released in 1991, Tracy was sometimes overlooked, his delightful sound often hidden in the long, dark shadows cast by contemporaries Clint Black, Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, and others; nonetheless, he was, and remains, a solid country artist with a superior set of pipes and a real knack for knowing how to choose great material. This album was the first of many, and more than worth the trip.
