Tracy Byrd - Ten Rounds
If there is one thing I love about Tracy Byrd, it is the fact that he has been consistent in the music he has released, even if that meant him not being the "biggest thing" on the charts anymore. Ten Rounds is just a continuation of a ballad/uptempo combination and mixture of songs, something that is proven and suited perfectly for Mr. Byrd.
The first single released from Ten Rounds, was "A Good Way To Get On My Bad Side," an attitude-laced duet of sorts with fellow Texan and good buddy Mark Chesnutt; the tune peaked at number twenty-five on Billboard while the Latin-flavored second release, "Just Let Me Be In Love" had a better go at it, and hit the number nine spot. No doubt a crowd pleaser, "Ten Rounds With Jose Cuervo" is currently sitting on the charts at number fourteen, and is trying to get into the top ten. Byrd's version of Michael Martin Murphey's hit, "Wildfire," is updated from the original seventies sound and mixes differently to provide Tracy with the ability to knock one out of the musical ballpark with his great voice.
There is no mistaking a Tracy Byrd song, or album, when you hear it and Ten Rounds carries the torch for all of the artists who are still making good country music without yielding to the pressures of playing different music and just calling it country.
