Guide Review
Ty Herndon - What Mattered Most
The first time I heard What Mattered Most I knew the song would be a hit. In successive years, each time Ty Herndon has released the first single from his new album, I've known that they'd be a hit. Simply, Ty Herndon is a fine vocal talent that has a vocal delivery that showcases his emotions on every song he sings.

When I bought the CD, on it's release date in 1995, I instantly had my favorite CD from that year, well until Collin Raye's latter 1995 album, "I Think About You." Ty is one of the rare artists that have had their debut single hit No. 1 on Billboard's "Hot Country Singles" chart. His following single was the duet with Stephanie Bentley. With the title of "Heart Half Empty," the song became an instant hit. The third, and final, single from the CD was the wonderful "I Want My Goodbye Back" This song became Ty's second Top 10 hit.

Of the other tracks, Ty's cover of the Jim Croce classic "You Don't Mess Around With Jim" and "Hat Full Of Rain" stand out. "Hat" contains strong background vocals by Patty Loveless and Joe Diffie. When looking for a great introduction into Ty Herndon's music, pick up Ty's What Mattered Most.
