CD Review: Ty Herndon Steam

This isn't my first Ty Herndon CD. I also have his Living in a Moment release on cassette, and it's also one of my favorites.
This album contains a good mix for songs, from the sultry "Steam" and the fun "A Love Like That" to the moving "Pray For Me," I found myself listening over and over. Of course, that's what a quality CD will do to you, and I believe this fits that description. You can see my brief comments about each song below:
Steam - Mmmmm... love this one. And the video for it is half bad either. Definitely something you gotta get up and dance to. Putting The Breaks On Time - Love this one too. All the best moments in our lives are those that we wish we could slow down time so we could enjoy them even more. I Can't Do It All - In this song, Ty talks about a romance that has ended, and he's trying hard to be "just friends," but having a hard time doing it by himself, especially when he sees her out on the town. No Mercy - This is Ty's upcoming single. Making up never was so much fun. Wonderful song!! In A New York Second - This song talks about that love-at-first feeling. That's What I Call Love - This has a bluesy feel to it, and the guitar parts remind me of something Lee Roy Parnell would play. Pray For Me - I just love this one! It talks about tolerance. A Love Like That - I actually heard this cut on the radio in December. While I loved "Steam," at the time, that was the only song I'd heard from the album. After hearing "A Love Like That," I *HAD* to buy the CD. Very energetic, and fun to listen to and sing along with. You Can Leave Your Hat On - Wooo.. is it hot in here? This song was done as a request from Ty's many fans. It's a concert staple. Very sexy. Love it! |

I'd rate this CD 4 7/8 out of 5. There's such a great mixture of songs here.. from sultry to fun. A definite disc to add to your collection if you're a Ty fan, or if you've just heard some of his music, and liked it.
