Concert Review: Diamond Rio

Dateline: 05/01/00

Diamond Rio Concert Review

Dana Williams Diamond Rio played two shows at the Boulder Station in Las Vegas, on April 28, 2000. I attended the first show and was lucky enough to have a 2nd row seat, and I brought my camera and got quite a few pictures.

Gene Johnson and Marty Roe This was the third time I had seen Diamond Rio in concert, and the FIRST time I got photos of the show. You can read my review of their show last summer when I saw them in Pleasanton, CA at the fair.

The guys just finished recording an album, called Stuff. They said the first single will be out the first of May, and a video will be out in a week or two. ;) You'll find the set list below.

I've linked the songs to RealAudio files where possible,

Ok, some comments... Being we were in Vegas, the guys were drinking a lot of water. Marty made a comment that it was hot and very windy and dry, and he had drunk a gallon and a half of water and still hadn't gone the bathroom. :D He told us about the new album, and the first single, which is the title cut, "Stuff."

Jimmy Olander, Gene Johnson, and Marty Roe If you look at the songs above with the "*" next to them, they are the songs that will be coming out on the new album. "Hearts Against The Wind" was originally recorded by Linda Ronstadt. The song is a perfect song to showcase the great harmonies of Diamond Rio. Loved the sound, and can't wait to see the video.

When they sang the new song, "Stuff" Dana told us we needed to help them out. Everytime they said stuff in the song, we were supposed to yell out stuff right after it. This was a lot of fun, and Dana said he wished we would have been in the studio with them when they recorded the song, cuz we sounded so great.

Totally enjoyed the show. Highly recommend that anyone see them if they're coming your way. They put on a heck of a show.

I've uploaded several photos from the concert.
