"Two Teardrops" is Steve's second album with Capitol Records. Again, he teams up with Bill Anderson, Marcus Hummon, Bill LaBounty, and Rick Carnes to write excellent tunes for this album.
While Burnin' the Roadhouse Down included 12 cuts, Steve packs in an additional 3 here, including a snappy instrumental.
Steve wrote or co-wrote all the songs here, with the exception of the lovely ballad, "For The First Time," which came from the motion picture One Fine Day. The song was performed by Kenny Loggins, and came to him via Capitol label head Pat Quigley.
Now on to my feelings about each cut: Hands of Time - This song about how people are always rushing around trying to do this and that.
Two Teardrops - I absolutely love this song. It's right up there with "Holes in the Floor of Heaven," and really tugs on the heartstrings.
You Be My Everything - Love the beat on this. Definitely single material in my opinion.
I'm Already Taken - This song is great. I first heard it on Steve's All Access special on CMT. This song is the first song that Steve ever recorded. He arranged it a bit differently here, but it's still great.
I've Been In That Movie - See if you can't hear something in this song that sounds like it was written from your life.
If You Don't Know Me By Now - Boy, is this a tear-jerker. Steve sings it with so much feeling, too.
Talk To Her Heart - This is a duet with Bryan White, and it's a great one.
So Much - This is another one that's got the makings of a great single. Steve's son Ryan made his recording debut playing guitar on this cut.
I'll Always Have Denver - Looking back at a relationship that's ended. This song talks about the memories from places that they've shared.
That's Love For You - Steve explains just what love is. Great song.
Cry No More - A song about a woman that was abused, but her new love promises she won't hurt or cry anymore.
Since You Walked Away - Love this one! About a man looking back on a failed relationship.
For The First Time - Loved this the first time I heard it recorded by Kenny Loggins, and Steve does an exceptional job with it. It fits his voice perfectly.
Tattoos Of Life - This song reminds me somehow of Garth's "The Cowboy Song" Great story here.
The Harry Shuffle - Cute little instrumental!
