TNN Music City News Awards Recap

Dateline: 06/21/99

The TNN Music City Awards were held on Monday, June 14th in Nashville, TN, at the Nashville Arena.

There were many stars in attendance for Country Music's fan-voted awards, but there were many who weren't there as well. Stars like Vince Gill, Faith Hill, Steve Wariner, Alan Jackson, John Michael Montgomery, Neal McCoy, Joe Diffie, Sara Evans, Tim McGraw, Sawyer Brown, and Lorrie Morgan presented awards or performed their latest hits. On the other hand, stars like Trisha Yearwood, Shania Twain, the Dixie Chicks, Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire, and George Strait were missing.

Here's the scoop on the show:
(I've included links to the RealAudio versions of songs that were performed whenever possible.)

Tim McGraw lead off the show with a rousing rendition of Something Like That off his new CD, A Place in the Sun.

Terri Clark and Andy Griggs presented the first award of the evening for Vocal Collaboration. The winner was:

note icon Faith Hill and Tim McGraw for
Just To Hear You Say That You Love Me.

Next, the Wilkinsons up for Star of Tomorrow - Male sang The Yodelin' Blues. They played on the fact that they are a trio of two males and one female, in the category of "Star of Tomorrow - Male" by all wearing tuxes. Amanda had a tux jacket and short shorts, and they all looked adorable.

Diamond Rio was next to perform, and they sang Unbelievable.
