If you enjoyed Tim's last CD, Everywhere, chances are you'll like this one just as much, or maybe even better. The mixture of upbeat, slow ballads, and just-plain-fun songs is just right. It all started with the haunting single, Please Remember Me, which by the way, takes nine tracks before you hear it. But it's not unpleasant listening to these songs. Each of them different from the next, but tied together with the emotion given them by Tim. Here are my thoughts on each of the 14 tracks that make up A Place in the Sun.
Seventeen - This song talks about being seventeen. Nice mid-tempo song.
She'll Have You Back - This is a song has a great honky-tonk feel to it. Co-written by Deryl Dodd. Somebody Must Be Praying For Me - This song tells of a girl that leaves home for California, but stops in Arizona where she meets the man of her dreams, and never does make it to California. Love this one!!! My Best Friend - You just can't help but think that Tim's singing about Faith on this one. :) Señorita Margarita - Garth had Piña Coladas, and Tim has Margaritas in this cute song. Some Things Never Change - This song has a real "Phil Collins" feel to it. Real nice. You Don't Love Me Anymore - This one will tear at your heartstrings. "...I forgot that you don't love me anymore..." Something Like That - Tim's second single off this album. Great choice. This song is really catchy, and you just gotta sing along. Please Remember Me - Just love this ballad. Rodney Crowell and Will Jennings wrote a gem with this one. I wouldn't be surprised if it was nominated for CMA song or single of the year. Carry On - Mark Collie co-wrote this song. Sort of a mid-tempo song. Talks about how you shouldn't let things get you down in life. My Next Thirty Years - Looking back at how his life was, and what he hopes will come in his next thirty years. Nice up-tempo, sort of jazzy feel. Eyes of a Woman - This is another great song. Sort of slowish. "What you can find in the eyes of a woman, is a reason to believe..." A Place in the Sun - The title track really does shine on this album. "I'm running out of places to run, I'm looking for a place in the sun." |
