| Martina McBride & Cyndi Thomson Concert Review | |

Vallejo is about 135 miles each way from where I live now, but at one time I lived in Vallejo, so I was familiar with the location of the fair, and the stage. I was actually kind of surprised that Martina would play the fair since from my memory, the stage wasn't very large. When I did arrive at the Fairgrounds the night of the show I was surprised to see long lines waiting to get in. Actually, there were two long lines; one to get your ticket and one to get in the gate, as they searched every person, plus you had to go through a metal detector.
Taking pictures was difficult as being in the front of the rear section, it was also the walkway from left to right and people were CONSTANTLY walking in front of you as you tried to watch the show. Very distracting. :(
Cyndi wore a bright pink long-sleeved blouse and jeans, and she looked wonderful, and sounded great as well. She opened her show with an album cut, "I Hope You're Doin' Fine." Then, she thanked everyone for coming, and said what an honor it was to be able to open for Martina.
The next song she sang was her second single, "I Always Liked That Best." She then sang the title cut of her album, "My World," and then told us the next song was her favorite from the album... the love song. She told everyone to hold the hand of their boyfriend, girlfriend, best friend, husband, wife, or whatever, but mentioned that if you don't know the person, you might want to ask them first. The song was "If You Were Mine."
The following is the full set list from the show:
Cyndi performed for about 30 minutes total, and was a pleasure to listen to. She did a great job with "She's in Love with the Boy," and she really worked well with the audience. I'd definitely recommend her show to anyone that has enjoyed any of her music.
I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that Martina McBride was headlining the Solano County Fair this year. It had been two years since I had seen her last, and I was looking forward to seeing her again. About a month after hearing that Martina was going to be at the fair, I found out that Cyndi Thomson would open for her. I was pleased to hear this since I had never seen Cyndi, and I had enjoyed the music I had heard from her thus far on the radio. So, I made my hotel reservations and planned to drive down to Vallejo for the show.
I headed back towards where I remember the stage being and found out that they had expanded the stage area greatly. I would have to say they added about 1500 more seats than it had before, plus there were bleacher seats in the rear. Being that I didn't expect the long lines and the search at the gate, I got into the venue around 7:10 for an 8:00 pm show. This was what was advertised, anyway, however as I was walking around trying to find an empty seat, Cyndi Thomson was announced, and she came out and started to sing. I soon found a seat in the front section of the rear of the floor seats and proceeded to get my notepad out to record the song list and my camera out to take my pictures.
