Martina McBride & keith urban Concert Review

Martina McBride Martina McBride and keith urban performed at the Konocti Harbor Resort & Spa on August 10, 2000.

This was my first time seeing both Martina and keith, as well as the first time I'd been to the Konocti Harbor Resort, which is on Clear Lake, in Northern California.

The drive to Kelseyville is part freeway, and part mountains. I will say this... my car prefers freeway driving. I was crawling up the mountains and wondering if I was going to make it. But I did, and when I got my first view of Clear Lake, I knew the drive was worth it. It was breathtaking!

I stayed overnight at the resort, and my room was in a cluster of buildings about a mile walk from the Amphitheater, which set on top of a hill, overlooking the lake. Again... the view was incredible.

The show was scheduled to start at 6:30 pm, and the sun was sinking in the west behind the mountains. The show actually started a bit late, around 6:50 pm, so it was just starting to get dark.

keith urban keith came out and started into "Where The Blacktop Ends." He was looking dashing in an loosely worn red long-sleeve shirt and black leather pants. After the song, he immediately commented how hot it was. I was wearing shorts and was just fine, but if I'd been wearing leather pants, I bet I'd be hot too. keith said how beautiful it was and the audience had the best view of the lake.

Below you'll find the full list of songs that keith performed. I've included links to audio clips of the songs available, courtesy of Barnes & Noble.

Some of my comments... When keith came out, he thanked everyone for coming early to see him. It seemed that he thought that no one would know who he was. I don't know why as he has a Top 10 record out. He also seemed suprised that anyone knew the song he sang from when he was with The Ranch.

keith urban keith really got everyone on their feet after his performance of "Rollercoaster," which is a kickin' instrumental. After it was over, he got a standing ovation. He also got a standing ovation when he sang his "One Chord Song." If you're wondering what that is, here is the story. He wanted to see if anyone could write a song with one chord, so he wrote "This Is My One Chord Song." The lyrics are hilarious, and everyone was really enjoying it.

The next single will be "But For The Grace Of God"

keith told us that he was a big Buddy Holly fan, and he played "Raining In My Heart." Then he asked if there were any single people in the audience, and dedicated "Out On My Own" to all the single folks.

keith is really entertaining and warm, and so talented musically as well as vocally. If he's coming your way, you won't be disappointed if you catch his show.

On to Martina's part of the show...
