| Brooks & Dunn with Pat Green Concert Review | |
Last December I was lucky enough to see Kix and Ronnie at the Las Vegas Hilton and I knew that this was a show I did not want to miss. I had never seen Pat Green, except for on CMT in his videos and when he visited MWL. I liked the two songs I had heard from him, though, and looked forward to his show.
I guess most of the others in the audience were there for Brooks & Dunn only, cuz when Pat came on the stage, many people hadn't even shown up yet. It's a shame, cuz Pat put on a great show, and he deserved the crowd's attention.
I love the fiddle intro in "Three Days," which came next. Then, he sang a song he wrote with Radney Foster, and was on Radney's album, called "Texas in 1880." There was also a video for this song, which was played for a while on CMT. Continuing with the Texas theme, he sang "Texas on my Mind," then he did asked if everyone liked Tom Petty, and sang "Runnin' Down a Dream." The final song was his hit single, "Carry On," which most people recognized.
I enjoyed Pat's show. He's got a lot of charisma, and I can see why the crowd was so crazy for him in his video for "Carry On." I'd recommend his show to anyone, but especially to those that like traditional honkytonk type of country music.
Here is Pat Green's full set list:
There was about a 30 minute intermission while the stagehands took away Pat's band's instruments and drum set and got things ready for Kix and Ronnie.
When I heard that Brooks & Dunn were coming to Konocti Harbor Resort this September, I had to get tickets. I was unable to see them when they came with the Neon Circus Tour last April as the closest it came to where I live, Yuba City, was about 100 miles each way, and it was a mid-week date, and I had to work the next day about 80 miles away, and I knew I couldn't do it. So, when the tickets went on sale for this show, I dialed up the venue and snagged a 9th row seat and was all set to enjoy the show.
Pat opened the show with "Here We Go." Then, he teased everyone saying that he is like the coleslaw on your plate. You may not want it, but it's there whether you like it or not. Most of the songs are new to me, so I don't know all the names. The second song was "Take Me Out To a Dancehall," and the third one I'm not sure about. Pat mentioned that a lot of his songs are drinkin' songs, and I think the name of the third song was something to do with drinking. During his fourth song someone came up to the stage and asked for his autograph. He said it was his first autograph. I'm sure he meant first autograph outside Texas, where he's toured for years.
