line keith urban Concert Review
line

keith urban opened for Trisha Yearwood at the Las Vegas Hilton on September 28th and 29th. I attended the show on the 29th.

The show started just a bit after 9:00 pm, and keith entered through the audience, rather than from backstage. He came down the aisle wearing and playing his guitar. When he got on stage he started singing ad lib words that were to the tune of his No. 1 hit, "But For the Grace of God," and then he launched into the actual words.

keith was looking great, wearing a denim jacket and jeans with a blue shirt underneath that had what looked like red sequins spelling out something on the front. Later, he took off his jacket and the design was a police squad car, but I can't figure what the red letters said.

"Where The Blacktop Ends" followed "But For the Grace of God," and keith showed his exceptional guitar prowess in the solos in the song.

keith asked everyone "Do you feel lucky?" Being we were in Las Vegas, this was an appropriate question. He asked how many people won money, and how many lost money. Seemed like more losers in the audience than winners, which isn't strange for Vegas. He then played "Little Luck of Our Own."

My favorite keith urban song was next... the beautiful ballad, "Your Everything." He then asked, "Where are all the single people?" and people clapped and raised their hands. Then he asked, "Where are all the couples?" and people clapped and raised their hands. Then he said, "Who doesn't know what they are?" and a few people clapped, and he said, "How about the ones that get here as couples and end up as single people?" and we laughed at that. He then dedicated the next song, "Out On My Own" to all the singles out there.

During "Out On My Own" keith played a mouth piece. I'm not sure what it's called, but it makes it sound like you are the guitar when you talk. It was really cool sounding. When the song was over, he introduced some of his band members.

  • Jason Mowry on Fiddle from Ft. Wayne, IN
  • Timmy Horsley on Drums from Carbondale, IL

Then he broke into the awesome instrumental "Rollercoaster." This song is fast and when it was over, people cheered and stood up in appreciation.

    More band members were introduced.

  • Robby Harrington on Bass from Joshua, TX
  • Scotty Huff on Acoustic Guitar from Maine (didn't get the city)

keith then thanked us so much for "turning off the TV and coming to see some live entertainment."

He closed his show with "It's a Love Thing."

This was my second time seeing keith and I highly recommend his show to everyone. He's an awesome guitarist and I love his voice. If you aren't a fan when you come, you'll be one when you go.
