line Tracy Byrd Concert Review

Tracy was part of a double bill with Mark Chesnutt. I wasn't sure which of them would go on first, and was rather surprised to see Mark Chesnutt be the headliner, when Tracy Byrd is the one with a record label, and new album out. The other thing I thought was maybe they alternate who goes on first.

I hadn't seen Tracy Byrd before, but I was familiar with his many hits, so I was looking forward to see what kind of show he would do.

Tracy singing the 'National Anthem'

The stage was decorated with a giant American Flag on the back wall, and Tracy started the show with a beautiful version of the "National Anthem." Everyone of course stood while he sang, and as you can see

from the picture, he had his hat off as he sang, as did everyone else that I saw. Very nice.

Tracy Byrd Tracy then started the show with "Somebody's Dream," off his latest album, Ten Rounds. Then, he took us back in time with "I'm From The Country." Next came his cover of the Johnny Paycheck tune, "Don't Take Her She's All I Got."

Tracy didn't do a whole lot of talking in between songs, but he did move around the stage a lot, so everyone could get to see him. Below you can see the full song list from the night.

Tracy ByrdAt one time during the show, someone yelled out a song, and he said, "I'll sing it if you can tell me what key it's in." and the person yelled out, "E," and Tracy said "Close enough. Hope we can do it. If not, you can just laugh along with us." And he sang "Something to Brag About."

He then introduced his band, The Only Way To Fly to the audience. The members are: Mitch Godwin - Lead Guitar, Randy Dennis - Piano, Mark Matoska - Steel Guitar, Billy Ray Carpenter - Drums, Johnny Lee Carpenter - Fiddle & Accordion, Bubba Moore - Bass, and Cary Stone on Acoustic Guitar.

There were people standing by the stage before Tracy sang "Ten Rounds with José Cuervo," and someone must have told him it was someone's birthday, because he said "Happy Birthday Dee Dee." Then he said, "Where is Dee Dee? Oh, Dee Dee's in the bathroom. Well, this next song is for her."

Before "Watermelon Crawl" Tracy asked if we were ready to crawl, and everyone yelled out that we were. Then everyone got up and many people went up next to the stage for the song. During the song Tracy shook hands with people and he also signed hats of some of the fans, all while singing the song.

Tracy Byrd If you're looking for some traditional Country Music, you'll find nothing but at a Tracy Byrd concert. He's a great performer, and he's got plenty of hits you'll recognize. Do yourself a favor and take in a show when he comes to your town. You won't be sorry.
