Various Artists - O Brother Where Art Thou
Ever wonder what would happen if you were to mix youthful energy and bluegrass? Nickel Creek would be the result. The three members of Nickel Creek consist of Chris Thile on mandolin and lead vocals, Sara Watkins on fiddle and lead vocals, and Sara's brother Sean on acoustic guitar and background vocals. Chris and Sara take turns singing the leads on different songs.
"Ode To a Butterfly" is a good introduction to the band's talents. "Out Of The Woods" sounds eerily like an Alison Krauss song. "When You Come Back Down" is such a beautiful song, it should have been a big hit. Chris Thile's vocals are superb on that track.
The Instrumentals are hot, the vocals are sweet, and the production is crisp. Is there anything not to like about this Great CD? Go ahead and find out for yourself. I also recommend Sean Watkins' debut solo CD, "Let It Fall."
