Guide Picks - ACM Winners
The Academy of Country Music hosts this Spring award show. You can be assured of quality from winners of a "hat" trophy. The albums below are from award winning artists and groups from the 2002 ACM Awards.
1) O Brother, Where Art Thou - Various
The soundtrack from the movie of the same name won the 2001 ACM Album of the Year award, and "I Am A Man Of Constant Sorrow" received the 2002 ACM Vocal Event award. A wonderful introduction to traditional and bluegrass music.

2) Drive - Alan Jackson
This year, one of the big winners at the ACMs was Alan Jackson, who not only took the ACM Male Vocalist trophy, but ACM Single and Song of the Year awards for his touching tribute to the victims of the 9-11 tragedy, "Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning."

3) Greatest Hits - Martina McBride
Martina McBride won the ACM Female Vocalist award. On the show she performed "Where Would You Be," which is a song off this album. Suprisingly, this was Martina's first ACM award.

4) Room With a View - Carolyn Dawn Johnson
Carolyn Dawn Johnson made a name for herself as a songwriter prior to her career as a performer. Her first album has produced two Top 10 singles, and a Top 30 single. This year Carolyn captured the ACM New Female Vocalist Award.

5) Steers & Stripes - Brooks & Dunn
Brooks & Dunn continue with their reign as ACM Duo of the Year, snagging it again in 2002, plus they also added two other awards, ACM Video of the Year, for "Only In America," and picked up the big one, ACM Entertainer of the Year, which also broke the record for most ACM Awards received.

6) I'm Already There - Lonestar
After picking up the CMA Group of the Year award last year, Lonestar takes the ACM Group of the Year this year. With a successful album and tour, they are definitely on top of their game.

7) Phil Vassar - Phil Vassar
Just as his counterpart, ACM New Female Vocalist Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Phil Vassar was known around Nashville as a successful songwriter prior to becoming an artist. This year he picks up the ACM New Male Vocalist Award.
