Guide Picks - Top 10 Classic Country Groups/Duos
Classic artists are those that have recorded prior to the mid 1980s. These are the stars we know now as legends. Many of them are sadly not played on radio, except for during an oldies session. The picks below will comprise what I feel are the ten best albums by classic groups and duos.

1) For The Record - Alabama
For The Record - 41 Number One Hits is Alabamas biggest greatest hits CD to date. Ok, maybe they werent all number one hits. I know a few only made it to #2 or #3, but that is beside the point. Theres no doubt that these are the finest songs ever to be recorded by this southern band.

2) The Very Best of Asleep At The Wheel - Asleep At The Wheel
This is the first time that ALL of the fan favorites have been recorded onto one CD. Since this band has been around for so long, many of the fan favorites are on albums that are either no longer in print or very hard to find. Ray's motto is: "Give the people what they want," so he compiled his most popular song requests onto this one album.

3) Songs from the Grass String Ranch - Kentucky HeadHunters
The Kentucky HeadHunters are a really cool hardcore Southern Rockin' country music group. While the bandmembers may not be pretty to look at they are awesome to listen to.
4) Showtime -Statler Brothers
"Showtime" is comprised entirely of new material. The Reid brothers and their families are responsible for writing or co-writing all but two of the new songs. Jimmy Fortune wrote one of the remaining songs and Steve Wariner contributed to the last song. So there are some very strong songs on this album. It is almost entirely comprised of ballads and is a dream album for the ballad lover.

5) 20th Century Masters: Millennium Collection - Oak Ridge Boys
This collection is the very best of the Oak Ridge Boys, including their number one hits like "Elvira," "Leaving Louisiana in the Broad Daylight," "American Made," and "It Takes a Little Rain (To Make Love Grow.)"
6) Super Hits - Charlie Daniels Band
"The Devil Went Down To Georgia" is Charlie's most well known hit. It was a pop and country smash. The song is still played on country radio and classic rock stations. If you are looking for some great classic country/rock by a great band look no further than the Charlie Daniels Band.
7) Greatest Hits - Restless Heart
Greatest Hits contains 13 of the group's most popular songs, and also adds on three brand-new cuts.
8) Take Me Back To Tulsa - Bob Wills & the Texas Playboys
"Take Me Back To Tulsa" is a re-release of Bob's original recordings for Columbia.
9) 20th Century Masters: Millennium Collection - Loretta Lynn & Conway Twitty
This album is an excellent overview of the two singers' work together during the 1970s, containing 12 of their Top Ten country duets (five of which topped the country charts.)
10) Super Hits - George Jones and Tammy Wynette
This album contains the bulk of George and Tammy's hits, including "The Ceremony," "We're Gonna Hold On," "Golden Ring," "Southern California," "Two Story House," and "(We're Not) The Jet Set."
