Each year we see new and talented stars debut albums. A first album is always one of the most important in an artist's career. If the first album doesn't fly, most of the time you'll never see a second. The albums below represent artists from the class of 2001.

1) Play It Loud - Chris Cagle
Chris Cagle originally released his album on Virgin Nashville, back in January of 2000. The label has closed, and Chris moved over to Capitol Nashville. Capitol decided to re-release his album, adding two new songs, and an Enhanced CD, to give fans more Cagle.

2) Tammy Cochran - Tammy Cochran
With a powerful voice and touching singles, Tammy Cochran releases her self-titled debut album. Included here is the touching song written for her brothers that both lost the fight to Cystic Fibrosis, "Angels in Waiting."
3) Rebecca Lynn Howard - Rebecca Lynn Howard
Of the songs, the bluesy "Out Here In The Water," the beautiful ballads, "I Don't Paint Myself Into Corners" and "Melancholy Blue" stand out. Having had written songs for other artists prior to this release, most notably John Michael Montgomery, it's not surprising that Rebecca wrote 10 of the 12 tracks on this CD.

4) Room With a View - Carolyn Dawn Johnson
Unless you are one of those people who reads every line of every CD insert, you are probably like me and had never heard of Carolyn Dawn Johnson until just a few months ago. Having penned songs with or for artists like Chely Wright, Jo Dee Messina and SheDaisy, I can't believe she's relatively unknown to the average country fan. All of that, however, is bound to change with the release of her first album "Room With A View."
5) Jolie & The Wanted - Jolie & The Wanted
With this collection of eleven songs, it is no surprise that Jolie has a voice that can appeal to many different audiences; she was also in a Rock and Roll band when she was younger and you can hear a little bit of it musically in a couple of the songs. This was a very pleasant album and would be great to listen to any time you want.
6) Mark McGuinn - Mark McGuinn
This album features a good mixture of up-tempo and touching, yet soaring ballads. Mark McGuinn's self-titled debut album is one CD that should be in every country music fan's collection.
7) Blake Shelton - Blake Shelton
Blake Shelton's debut single from this album "Austin" caught the hearts of everyone, and stayed at the top of the Billboard Country Singles charts for four weeks. This album has something for everyone, being traditional-sounding with a smack of contemporary sound that will be sure to get him airplay.
8) My World - Cyndi Thomson
This being Cyndi Thomson's debut album, there is absolutely no telling what kind of emotions she was feeling when My World was released. Much to everyone's surprise, she became quite the overnight Country Superstar success story that could not only sing like a beautiful bird, but could write songs as well.
9) Trick Pony - Trick Pony
Trick Pony is a unique name for a unique group that produces a unique, high energy sound. It is made up of Heidi Newfield, Ira Dean and Keith Burns. All three share the duties of lead vocals, write their own music, and all play instruments.
