Guide Picks - Top 10 Contemporary Country Males
Contemporary artists are those that have recorded from the 90s through today. These are the artists that are the ones you will hear most often on country radio. The picks below will comprise what I feel are the ten best albums by contemporary male artists.
1.) No Fences - Garth Brooks
This is Garth's second release, which was originally released in 1990, and had four singles, now five, if you count the updated version of "Wild Horses." The original singles were "The Thunder Rolls," "Two of a Kind, Workin' on a Full House," "Friends in Low Places," and "Unanswered Prayers."
2.) Drive - Alan Jackson
When you buy an Alan Jackson album, you never have to worry about the quality being lacking or sloppy, as it always has a professional sound and quality of production. All of the songs are traditional and you cannot go wrong having a duet with buddy George Strait on there either ("Designated Drinker").
3.) Pull My Chain - Toby Keith
Toby has come to his own with his 2001 release, Pull My Chain. After the huge success of How Do You Like Me Now, Toby takes it a step further with this collection of mostly self-penned songs that are sure to be played on country radio for years to come. In addition to "I'm Just Talkin' About Tonight," and "I Wanna Talk About Me," Toby includes touching songs like "You Leave Me Weak," and "Yesterday's Rain."
4.) Everywhere - Tim McGraw
While it wasn't the album that contained his first #1 song, it was the one that skyrocketed Tim McGraw into the country music stratosphere. With six #1 songs, including "It's Your Love," which spent six weeks at the top of the charts, this was the album that really made Tim McGraw a household name.
5.) Strait Out of the Box - George Strait
How can you go wrong with four CDs of George Strait classic hits? They include 31 #1 songs plus 19 choice album cuts. The songs cover his career from 1981 through 1995. A must for any Strait fan!
6.) Greatest Hits - Kenny Chesney
There are greatest hits collections that have about 10 hits and maybe one or two new songs. Then there is Kenny Chesney's collection of hits that gives you 11 of his finest songs, two of them are remixed, one is a live version. Plus there are four new songs to sink your teeth into and realize that these too are destined to be future hits.
7.) Down The Road I Go - Travis Tritt
Travis Tritt is well-known for his rockin' country favorites, and this album has a mixture of those attitude-infused favorites, along with several beautiful ballads like "Best of Intentions," and "Love of a Woman."
8.) Wish You Were Here - Mark Wills
Mark Wills has made a name as a ballad singer. This album has some of his best ballads, the No. 1 songs, "Wish You Were Here," "I Do (Cherish You)," and "Don't Laugh At Me." The fourth single, "She's in Love" peaked at No. 7, still a respectible charting.
9.) Keith Urban - Keith Urban
Keith's self-titled debut has sold over 500,000 copies, and contains three top 5 songs, with "Your Everything," (No. 4), "Where The Blacktop Ends," (No. 4), and the No. 1 hit "But For The Grace of God."
10.) Greatest Hits - Clint Black
You absolutely can't do wrong with Clint Black's Greatest Hits Collection, featuring 16 songs, eight of which were No. 1 hits. Of the eight remaining, four are brand new, including a live version of "Desparado."
