Winners from the 2007 CMA Awards

From , former About.com Guide

The Country Music Association Awards are the most prestigious of all the awards a country music artist can aquire. If an album or artist or song won a CMA award, you can be sure the music is some of the best the industry has to offer. The albums below are from award winning artists and groups from the 2007 CMA Awards.

Kenny Chesney - CMA Entertainer

Kenny ChesneyCountry Music Association
Kenny Chesney takes the Entertainer of the Year award for a third time. The award was well-deserved, as Kenny had the biggest selling country tour around. He keeps his prices down, and has opening acts that have similar fan bases to his own, which makes for happy fans all around.

Carrie Underwood - CMA Single, CMA Female Vocalist

Carrie UnderwoodCountry Music Association
Carrie Underwood was once more a presence at the CMAs, as she took home the Female Vocalist award for a second year in a row. She also performed her hit, "So Small" from her sophomore album, "Carnival Ride," which debuted at No. 1 with over 500,000 copies sold, making her the top-selling country female this year.

Brad Paisley - CMA Male Vocalist, Video of the Year

Brad PaisleyCountry Music Association
Brad Paisley has been nominated in this category numerous times, and this year was finally his year to win the award. This follows his win in the same category at the ACM Awards earlier this year.

Taylor Swift - CMA Horizon

Taylor SwiftCountry Music Association
This was the hardest category to choose. It was really a toss up between Taylor and Rodney. As the time got closer to the CMAs, and I kept hearing more and more about Taylor, and her song was really flying up the charts, and they just re-released her self-titled album with a DVD addition, plus some new songs, I knew Taylor was going to take this award, and she did.

Rascal Flatts - CMA Vocal Group

Rascal FlattsCountry Music Association
This is the fifth year in a row that Rascal Flatts have taken the CMA Vocal Group award. I really don't see any other groups close to their popularity, so I look for Rascal Flatts to continue to win in the upcoming years. Their recent album, "Still Feels Good" sold over 500,000 copies in its first week, making it the best selling album of the year at that time.

George Strait - CMA Album

George StraitCountry Music Association
The album nominees were a tough category to predict. Each was well-deserving of the win. But, George Strait's "It Just Comes Natural" came out on top in this category.

Sugarland - CMA Duo

SugarlandCountry Music Association
This award was the shock of the night. Everyone was prepared for Brooks & Dunn to get up and take the Duo Award for a record 15th time, but Sugarland's name was read. I'm so happy for them. While they are happy for the award, they acknowledged Brooks & Dunn, which I thought was a classy thing to do. We shall see if this is the start of a new run for the Duo Award.

Tracy Lawrence - CMA Musical Event

This was for the song "Find Out Who Your Friends Are." It's hard to believe as long as Tracy Lawrence has been performing, this is actually his first CMA Award. I was disappointed that it wasn't shown on the televised portion, but am really happy for Tracy, who wins this along with his "friends" Kenny Chesney, and Tim McGraw.
