Top 10 Most Memorable Moments from the 2008 ACM Awards

From Shelly Fabian, for About.com

The 2008 ACM Awards broadcast was filled with many memorable moments. Here are the ten I feel were the most memorable of the night.

10. Trace Adkins' performance of "You're Gonna Miss This."

It was wonderful to see Trace Adkins performing on the ACM Awards. Now, if only they could actually nominate him for something. This was a wonderfully touching performance. I expect nothing less from him.

9. Jack Ingram winning the ACM New Male Vocalist Award

While not exactly new, Jack Ingram made the point of showing his appreciation for this award, and also told fans that they should never give up on their dreams, because they do come true.

8. Sugarland's performance of "All I Want To Do"

It took about 10 seconds for this song to get in my head, and the chorus just would not stop replaying over and over. So very catchy. Cute performance too, especially the ending where they both fall back off the top ledge of the stairs, only to pop up a few seconds later, laughing and smiling.

7. Carrie Underwood performs "Last Name"

When you want to have an opening performance that will really get people interested in the show, who do you put in that position? Why, Carrie Underwood, of course. Carrie did a great job performing her latest hit, "Last Name."

6. Taylor Swift wins the ACM New Female Vocalist Award

Well, I wasn't suprised, and I'm sure most people weren't suprised to see Taylor win this award. What I loved was her appreciation for her mom's support, leaving home, and everything she loved to go on the road with Taylor when she was 16-years-old. She dedicated this award to her mom. Very sweet.

5. Lady Antebellum wins the ACM New Duo or Group Award

This group is awesome, but they sure didn't think they were going to win this award. I loved their humble acceptance of the award. It's the first of what I believe will be many throughout their career.

4. Brad Paisley & Carrie Underwood's Tribute to Eddy Arnold

This touching tribute to the Hall of Famer was awesome. Carrie and Brad sound fantastic together, and made this wonderful old song new again. We miss you Eddy Arnold!

3. Taylor Swift's performance of "You Should Have Said No"

This was a very different type of performance for a country music awards show. She started out in a hoodie, and playing the guitar and singing acoustically, sitting on a stool, then her clothes were ripped off, showing a sleeveless black dress. It ended with Taylor singing under a rain shower. Wow!

2. Miranda Lambert's Album of the Year Win

This was the shocker of the night. I'm so happy for Miranda, who put out a fantastic album with Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. It was my No. 1 album for last year. Way to go Ran!

1. Garth Brooks' performance of his hits and Crystal Milestone Acceptance

While I wouldn't say he was in his best voice, Garth gave everyone a lesson in performing for the crowd, and showed why he's such a beloved performer. I especially loved the duet with Trisha, and how when it was time for her to go, he seemed to not want to let go. His acceptance of the Crystal Milestone award from Reba was precious, as he mixed up her name with Trisha Yearwood's when he thanked her. He corrected himself right away. I guess we know who he was thinking of. Too cute.
