Formed:

2010

Members:

  • Tyler Hubbard (Hometown: Monroe, Georgia)
  • Brian Kelley (Hometown: Ormond Beach, Florida)

Interesting Facts:

  • Garth Brooks is a big inspiration to both singers
  • Both Hubbard and Kelley are fans of hip-hop, in particular Lil' Wayne. "Everybody in the high school parking lot was either blaring some country music or blaring rap -- and I guess over the years it just kind of comes together somewhere in the middle," Hubbard told CNN.
  • In their hit "Cruise," the pair mention "a brand new Chevy" -- and each received brand new Chevy Silverados from a Georgia car dealership in appreciation.

How They Met:

Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley met while they were both students at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee.

"I had a third year writing class with one of Tyler’s roommates," Kelley said in a 2012 interview with Keepin' It Country, "and he introduced us saying that we’d hit it off musically. We became good friends, and when we graduated we moved in together and started writing songs."

Chart-Toppers:

Florida Georgia Line gained exposure by opening concerts for such country stars as Blake Shelton, Jake Owen, and Brantley Gilbert. The group gained further notoriety with the release of their second EP, It'z Just What We Do, in May 2012. It featured the summer song "Cruise," which promptly began climbing the country and radio charts. It was certified gold by the end of the year.
