The 2006 ACM Awards will be held on May 23, 2006 in Las Vegas, NV at the MGM Grand Hotel. The show will be broadcast on CBS at 8:00 pm ET/PT. Be sure to watch.
Well, let's see how I do at these predictions. I didn't do too well with the Grammy predictions, but then Grammy members are hard to figure out since most of them know nothing about country music, so their votes are usually really different than what you will see at an award show that is strictly voted for by those in the country music industry.
Let's start with Entertainer of the Year. This year, the nominees are: Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts and Toby Keith.
Who do I want to win? I'd like to see Keith Urban take the award this year.
Who will win? I think that Kenny Chesney will retain hold of the Entertainer of the Year award.
Next is Male Vocalist of the Year. This year the nominees are: Dierks Bentley, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, George Strait, and Keith Urban.
Who do I want to win? My vote is for Keith Urban who won the award last year.
Who will win? I think Keith will indeed take home the award once more.
In the Female Vocalist of the Year category, we have Sara Evans, Martina McBride, Carrie Underwood, Gretchen Wilson, and Lee Ann Womack.
Who do I want to win? I would love to see Sara Evans win this year.
Who will win? While I don't even think she should be nominated as Female Vocalist, being so new, Carrie Underwood is most likely going to take home this award.
In the Vocal Group of the Year category, the nominees are Alabama, Little Big Town, Lonestar, Rascal Flatts, and Sugarland.
Who do I want to win? I personally would love to see Sugarland take this award, however, shouldn't they be in the duo category now?
Who will win? Definitely, Rascal Flatts will take the award. Sugarland will give them a good fight, however, and unless they are moved to Duo of the year, they can expect strong competition from them every year.
In Vocal Duo of the year category, the nominees are Big & Rich, Brooks & Dunn, Montgomery Gentry, Van Zant and the Warren Brothers.
Who do I want to win? I think I'm gonna stick with the old favorites -- Brooks & Dunn.
Who will win? Brooks & Dunn.
In the Top New Male Vocalist of the Year category, we have Jason Aldean, Billy Currington, and Craig Morgan.
Who do I want to win? I love them all, but I'd kind of like Billy to take home the award.
Who will win? If the voters go by chart strength, they gotta give it to Craig Morgan.
In the Top New Female Vocalist of the Year category, the nominees are Miranda Lambert, Julie Roberts and Carrie Underwood.
Who do I want to win? I'd love to see Miranda win this.
Who will win? If the voters go by chart strength, Carrie Underwood is a shoe-in for this award.
Top New Duo or Vocal Group of the Year category has Big & Rich up against Little Big Town and Sugarland.
Who do I want to win? I love Sugarland, and I see them taking this award easily.
Who will win? Definitely Sugarland. They are hot, hot, hot!
