JIMMY BUFFETT (Nominated for Musical Event of the Year.)

Country Music has been good to Jimmy Buffett. Though he has been a top touring act for 30 years, Buffett never had a No. 1 hit or won an award until 2003. That's when he teamed up with Alan Jackson for "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere," which earned Buffett the CMA Vocal Event of the Year (now Musical Event) trophy. Born in Mississippi and raised in Mobile, Ala., Buffett graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in journalism and worked as a correspondent for Billboard. After moving to Key West in the 1970s, Buffett signed with ABC Records. He made several albums before releasing Changes In Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes, which produced the million-selling single "Margaritaville." Following his hit with Jackson, Buffett released License to Chill on RCA Records. The album featured collaborations with Clint Black, Kenny Chesney, Nanci Griffith, Toby Keith, Martina McBride, George Strait and Bill Withers. Buffett is also an accomplished children's book author and novelist, owns his own record label and founded radiomargaritaville.com, a 24/7 Internet radio station that broadcasts all of his concerts.
