MIRANDA LAMBERT (Nominated for Horizon Award.)
When singer-songwriter Miranda Lambert released her debut album Kerosene, she accomplished what only five other Country artists in the history of Nielsen SoundScan have ever done; earned a No. 1 Country album debut on their first album release. Kerosene went on to be the highest debut for a new artist in 2005 and its sales have made Lambert the Top Selling Debut Country Artist of 2005. Lambert recently toured with reigning CMA Male Vocalist Keith Urban and landed a coveted spot opening for superstar George Strait on his 2006 tour. The Lindale, Texas native grew up listening to Country artists Steve Earle, Merle Haggard and Jerry Jeff Walker. It was their musical influence that led her to Nashville when she was 19. After gaining national attention as second runner-up on the premiere season of "Nashville Star," Lambert signed to Epic Records. Lambert wrote 11 of the 12 songs on Kerosene, including the hits "Me And Charlie Talking" and "Kerosene."
