SARA EVANS (Nominated for Female Vocalist and Musical Event of the Year.)

Born in Boonville, Mo., Sara Evans spent her childhood singing with her family's band. She moved to Nashville in 1991, where she met musician and future husband Craig Schelske. The couple moved to Oregon, then returned to Nashville in 1995 for Evans to pursue a recording contract. Country Music Hall of Fame member Harlan Howard took Evans under his wing and guided her to RCA Records, where she released her debut album, Three Chords and The Truth. "No Place That Far," the title track of her Gold second album, was her first No. 1 hit. The multi-Platinum Born To Fly followed, with Top 5 hits "Born To Fly," "I Could Not Ask For More" and "I Keep Looking." Evans picked up her first CMA Award in 2001 for Music Video for her "Wizard of Oz"-inspired "Born To Fly" clip. Her fourth album, the Platinum Restless, featured hits "Suds In The Bucket" and "Perfect." Her latest album, Real Fine Place, was released in October, and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart and No. 3 on the Top 200 chart. The title track first single from the album was No. 1 for two weeks. Evans' current single is the stone country "Cheatin'."
