The Academy of Country Music hosts this Spring award show. You can be assured of quality from winners of a "hat" trophy. The albums below are from award winning artists and groups from the 2005 ACM Awards.
Kenny was the winner of the big award this year at the ACM Awards. Having won the Entertainer of the Year last fall at the CMA, and not getting to give his full acceptance speech, due to time restraints, he didn't have that problem here.
Keith Urban won two awards at the 2005 ACM Awards. The first was for Album of the Year for "Be Here," and the second for Male Vocalist of the Year (the same category he won at the CMA Awards the previous fall). Keith wasn't in attendance, but stayed up until 2 in the morning in Ireland, where he played a concert earlier in the evening, part of which was broadcast on the awards show.
Gretchen was a shoo-in for the ACM New Artist award, so it wasn't that surprising to hear her name called. Winning for Female Vocalist of the Year was something many people didn't expect, least of all Gretchen herself. She gave a tearful acceptance speech, thanking the fans and her record label for believing in her.
It's year three for Rascal Flatts winning the Vocal Group Award. While accepting their award, Gary made sure to include the group's thanks to the "Dog Pound," which is their online street team, for their hard work.
Not too surprising a win here. The guys gave an awesome performance of their new single, "Sing Something Country" on the show as well.
The song, "Live Like You Were Dying" won for Single, and Song of the Year. Tim happily accepted with his producer and bandleader. Later when the Song of the Year was given out, Craig Wiseman cracked, "Tim McGraw signed this hand, and Faith Hill kissed this cheek... I'm auctioning myself off on eBay at 10:00 pm tonight."
Brad Paisley won for Vocal Collaboration for his duet with Alison Krauss, "Whiskey Lullaby." The same song also won the Video of the Year Award.
