“For The Record - 41 Number One Hits” is Alabama’s biggest greatest hits CD to date. Ok, maybe they weren’t all number one hits. I know a few only made it to #2 or #3, but that is beside the point. There’s no doubt that these are the finest songs ever to be recorded by this southern band.

This collection includes 20 songs, including his number one hits; "Chattahoochee," "She's Got the Rhythm (And I Got the Blues)," "I'd Love You All Over Again," and "Don't Rock the Jukebox."

When Alan first came on the scene, he was just one of the many neotraditionalists, and it would be left to time to tell that he was here to stay. In the liner notes, Jackson is quoted as saying, "You know that country song, 'Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes?' I don't know where I can fill 'em, but I'd sure like to try 'em on." Alan does just that in this album.

This is a smart mix of old and new songs, and includes a duet with Alison Krauss, ("And The Angels Cried,") and Keith Whitley, through the magic of a previously recorded track, ("There's a New Kid in Town,") and even one with the cartoon Chipmunks in ("Santa's Gonna Come in a Pickup Truck.")

One of country music's traditionalists, Alan Jackson continues to release classic country music, yet remain a contemporary artist, receiving airplay on today's country radio. This 2001 release includes such hits as "www.memory," "When Somebody Loves You," and "Where I Come From."

New Favorite is the title of the new album by Alison Krauss. It is an acoustic Blue Grass album released off the Uni/Rounder label. It features some great instrumentals by some very talented artists. Alison has an incredibly pure voice and is one of the best fiddle players I have heard. She is joined by Union Station - Barry Bales, Ron Block, Jerry Douglas, and Dan Tyminski.

Review of Alison Krauss + Union Station's 'Lonely Runs Both Ways.'

The album is not overly bluegrassy, with the exception of "Never Got Off The Ground," which does have a distinct bluegrass feel. Alison has her Union Station bandmates playing and vocalizing on the album with her. The song has a more pop or even jazz feel to it. Very soothing and one that would appeal to someone who's big into ballads.

"You Won't Ever Be Lonely" was Andy's big debut single and this song about unconditional love made it all the way to number two on the Billboard Charts, number one on the R&R Charts. His second single, dedicated to his wife, shot to number two on Billboard.

With fourteen of country's best performers helping them, Asleep at the Wheel has produced one of the finest Bob Wills Tribute albums out there. Four of the songs from the album were nominated for Grammys and three of them won. This is a collaboration of newer artists and country legends side by side.

This is the first time that ALL of the fan favorites have been recorded onto one CD. Since this band has been around for so long, many of the fan favorites are on albums that are either no longer in print or very hard to find. Ray's motto is: "Give the people what they want," so he compiled his most popular song requests onto this one album.

It's quite amazing that until this CD, with "Desperado," every song included on a Clint Black CD was written or co-written by himself. "Like The Rain" was the first single and eighth number one from this collection. Other songs not available anywhere else are: "Wherever You Go," and "Cadillac Jack Favor."

Clint Black's debut album thundered onto the country airwaves in 1989, perking up ears and turning heads wherever his finely-honed tenor was heard. The album contains five consecutive No. 1 hits with "A Better Man," "Killin' Time," "Nothing's News," "Walkin' Away," and "Nobody's Home." It is heart-searing and uncompromisingly country in its emotional content and theme.

Released In 1995, this CD became an instant holiday classic. All of the songs were written by Clint Black, as was the case on ALL his CD's until his Greatest Hits I CD. This is an amazing feat considering the fact that most artists rely on the greats of yester-year, like "White Christmas," or "Away In The Manger," and add one or two new songs.

Clint Black had a lot to live up to after the thundering perfection of his critically and popularly acclaimed debut, "Killin' Time." While it did not win the same accolades of that debut, Clint's second album, "Put Yourself in My Shoes," is nonetheless a tremendous disc.

The Dixie Chicks were originally a quartet that played mostly bluegrass and country classics. Dropping two of the members and adding Natalie Maines, and changing to contemporary country did the trick. The Chicks were off and running and haven't looked back, selling over 11 million copies of the album so far.

Jenai has a sassiness to her voice that echo's the best of the Judds and Raitt. It is almost as if Jenai is the lost Judd sister or daughter of Bonnie Raitt. There are some uptempo songs, (like "Cool Me Down," and "South Side Stomp"), and some soft tender ballads, (like "Written On My Heart" and "It Won't Be Me"), with all the emotion of Mandy Barnett and Trisha Yearwood.

Some of the better tracks include the sweet "So Help Me Girl," the fun "Pickup Man," Bigger Than The Beatles," the outlandish "Third Rock From The Sun" and the biographical "Home." With these songs and the other hits, it's a great introduction into the wonderful songs by Joe Diffie.

Joe Diffie is arguably one of the finest voices to have come out of the surge of neotraditionalist vocalists in the early 90's. In 1990, Joe brought us his debut, "Home," and his work simply improved from there. If you love real country music and the neotraditionalist sound, then pick up this album and get set for some true honky-tonkin' fun.

Usually when a person releases any album that is higher than his fifth, the new and fresh ideas seem to dwindle, but that is not the case with "In Another World." Old and new fans alike should pick this one up and enjoy the "Honky-Tonk Attitude" and sentimental emotion found throughout.

This collection of Christmas songs includes 12 recordings, several written by Toby himself. The album was released back in 1995, and the songs range from thoughtful, ("Jesus Gets Jealous of Santa Claus,") to a Christmas love song, ("Blame It On The Mistletoe,") and the playful ("Hot Rod Sleigh."

Toby wrote or co-wrote 11 of the 14 tracks on the CD. The only songs Toby didn't write were his duet with Sting "I'm So Happy That I Can't Stop Crying," "We Were In Love," and "A Little Less Talk, A Lot More Action." Every track on here was also a Top 10 hit.

Toby shines on this solid debut. He single-handedly wrote 8 of the 10 tracks, including the greatest of the hits and the finest of the tracks, such as the beautiful "Mama Come Quick" and the lighthearted, fun "Close But No Guitar." Toby waited a long time for recognition from the industry; but for my money, this was what should have made them stand up and take notice.

Along with "I'm Tryin'" we also hear songs like "Help Me Understand" and "Once Upon A Fool Ago" that are traditional country to the core. With "Thankful Man" and "And Then There Was You," we get some up-tempo music to tap our toes to.
