Anything Goes Bottom Line:

Randy Houser's new album Anything Goes is perfectly titled. That is exactly what fans can expect when they first listen to it. Randy covers everything from broken hearts to hitting the bars, and it all sounds great. His voice is refreshing, which makes this record stand out even more. Prepare yourself for a rollercoaster ride of emotions, packed with situations that bring country music to a whole new level. It is exciting to see new artists like Randy Houser cause such an impact. This record doesn't even touch what this man is capable of.

About Randy Houser

There are some amazing new acts coming out of Music City and one of them is a gentleman named Randy Houser. He has so much to offer the world that it almost seems impossible for one CD to deliver his talents and abilities.

Randy grew up in Lake, Mississippi. His father was a professional singer and musician who took his son under his wing. Randy's parents divorced when he was seven years old, so he spent the summers with his father learning how to master the art of country music. By the time he was a teenager, he had already started writing songs and found that it was a perfect way for him to express his feelings. When Randy was only twenty one, his father passed away from an illness. This later inspired him to write the song "I'll Sleep."

After his fathers passing, Randy was sitting around the house debating where life was going to take him. This is when he heard a song on the radio that changed his life forever. It was a song that Tammy Cochran released a few years ago called "Life Happened." After hearing this tune, Randy realized he needed to pack up his life and head to Nashville in order to make his dream become a reality. Once he was there, he ran into a woman who had seen his shows in Mississippi. She was able to set him up to record a "demo" for a local songwriter.

Eventually, Randy hooked up with a couple songwriters named Jamey Johnson and Dallas Davidson. The outcome was a little tune called "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk." Randy has also been fortunate enough to write songs for John Michael Montgomery, Justin Moore, and George Canyon. With all of this success, it seemed only natural for him to record an album of his own.

Anything Goes - The Songs

This record starts off with an amazing punch. "Boots On" is about a man who "breaks his back" all week long and by the time Friday rolls around, he is in desperate need for some fun. As hard as most people in this country work, it is safe to say everyone will relate to this song in one way or another. This is something that would be perfect to hear at any bar or honky tonk.

The title track will make you stop in your tracks. If you haven't already heard it, you are seriously missing out. When someone is going through a breakup, they often give up and head for the bar in order to forget their problems. In this situation, the man finds himself checking out a lady on the other side of the room. They end up "hooking up," but that is not the main subject. The feelings and regret that follow the next morning bring the real issue to life.

"Something Real" and "My Kind Of Country" are both great tunes, but "Strange" really shines bright. People seem to have this false interpretation of what life is all about and it takes someone who is a little out of the ordinary to prove "Strange" can be good.

If you are looking for a little "soul" in your country, "How Many Times" will fit your mood. When you are in a relationship, make sure you treat the other person right. If you don't, you may end up like the character in this track.

Bringing this record to a close is a song that Randy wrote after the death of his father called "I'll Sleep." Hopefully, this song will be released as his next single. It is hard to go into detail without giving the whole thing away, but make sure you check it out.

Randy Houser is truly an asset to country music and his debut record Anything Goes proves that.
