Bottom Line:Charlie Daniels has been around for years and has always been known for being very patriotic and supporting the troops. Charlie has been in controversy over his polical beliefs. Regardless of where you stand on the war, this is for our men and women in the military and from their screams the minute The Charlie Daniels Band walked on stage. The Charlie Daniels Band-Live In Iraq is bound to entertain everyone who is listening. Also, as a bonus you get a DVD that shows behind the scenes footage, live performances and all sorts of interaction with the troops.
The Charlie Daniels Band has always been an "in your face" band, but when you put them on stage in front of hundreds of troops, they show just what they are made of. Starting off this awesome CD/DVD, The Charlie Daniels Band-Live From Iraq, "Notte Periocolosa" is an great way to start off this album. It is Charlie saying the Pledge Of Alligiance, with rockin' music in the back ground, and it was a great way to get the troops screaming in the background. The Charlie Daniels Band have always taken a patriotic stand, and included the hit "In America." Honestly, it is breathtaking to see and hear how the troops react to "In America." Of course, there are some songs that have to be on a "live" album and two of those songs is "The South's Gonna Do It Again" and "The Legend Of Wooley Swamp." "Saddle Tramp" is the longest song on the CD, which is almost eleven minutes and is just as good live as it is on the original recording. If you love "blues" music, then you are sure to fall in love with "Iraq Blues." Charlie Daniels has written this as a total tribute for all the men and women in the military, and it is great. It is clear that when Charlie plays the "Iraq Blues" in the presence of the soldiers, he gives the crowd his all. The Charlie Daniels Band proves this as they play "Floreeda Road" which is an instrumental with the whole band, and allows each of them to show off their talents live.
"Long Haired Country Boy" is one of Charlie Daniels' most popular hits, and after you hear it, trust me you will know why. Charlie has added one of the most well-known gospel hits ever written to Live In Iraq, and it is "How Great Thou Art." This was a very moving moment on the album and got a huge reaction from all the troops in the audience. "Drinkin' My Baby Goodbye," which has been perfected since it was originally recorded, is just as good now as ever. "Rocky Top" is one of the most recorded songs in country music, and is even the state song for Tennessee. Well, The Charlie Daniels Band has now taken it across the world, and recorded it as well. It was as big of a hit for Charlie in Iraq, as it would have been at The Grand Ole Opry. The final song on The Charlie Daniels Band-Live In Iraq is probably their biggest hit ever, "The Devil Went Down To Georgia." The troops went wild when the fiddle hit the first note, and there is no way not to get goose bumps hearing it. Live In Iraq is bound to go down in history as one of the greatest live albums ever recorded. It is right up there with the legendary live album of Johnny Cash's At Folsom Prison. Also included is a DVD that take you to many places Charlie Daniels visited, and interaction with the troops, as well as live performances. This is a touching DVD that everyone needs to see. It was clear to see the love The Charlie Daniels Band has for America and the troops.
