Bottom Line:

This is a great family CD. The songs are contemporary enough to be enjoyed by adults and kids love hearing songs they love from their favorite Disney movies. A variety of great artists and fun song choices made it a fast favorite in our house.

Country Sings Disney once more
Country Sings Disney is becoming somewhat of a tradition it seems. The latest release collaboration from Walt Disney and Lyric Street Records is definitely a winner. Since Lyric Street is Disney owned, it wasn't a real stretch to open the Disney catalog up to the country artists. The resulting mixture of high profile country artists and songs from favorite Disney movies is a sure fire recipe for family fun.

Disney is well known for the musical scores that back up their movie storylines. As a result, it comes as no surprise to hear a great many of your favorite songs from a movie on the airwaves. Conversely, people who don't follow the Disney movie scene are often surprised to find that a great many of their favorite songs are actually from a Disney movie soundtrack. It was fun listening to this album and hearing how the various artists gave the various songs a country feel.

The Songs:

The only song on this album that was not part of a movie soundtrack is the current hit from Billy Ray and Miley Cyrus, "Ready, Set, Don't Go." But it is fitting to have it included since it came from Miley's Disney channel show Hannah Montana. The voices of father and daughter meld together well as they sing about letting his little girl grow up and become independent.

Cyrus also made a second appearance on the album with a song from the movie Cars, called "Real Gone." The video for that song can be found at all the online video outlets as well as CMT and GAC.

"Life is a Highway" was the theme song from Cars, and Rascal Flatts were a perfect choice to perform the song. Their sound is unique and edgy just like the movie characters.

Brad Paisley gave a considerable country feel to another Cars soundtrack song called "Find Yourself" with his extraordinary guitar skills.

Trisha Yearwood sang "Blue Beyond" from Fox and the Hound 2. Another song from that movie was "We Go Together" and was performed by Little Big Town.

Past American Idol contestants made a strong showing. Bucky Covington sang "You'll Be in My Heart" from Tarzan, while Phil Stacey contributed "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" from Lion King, and the singing Marine, Josh Gracin sang "When I See an Elephant Fly" from Dumbo.

Other movies represented were Home on the Range, Bambi II and The Little Mermaid. Martina McBride, Trisha Yearwood, Faith Hill, Alison Krauss, Tim McGraw and Bonnie Raitt were other contributing artists.

This is definitely a CD I'd recommend to any country music fan and it is one that the kids will enjoy as much as the adults.
