Donald Trump'$ Hair Bottom Line:

It seems sometimes people forget that women like to laugh, too. Much of the comedy broadcast on television is aimed at a male audience, certainly Comedy Central appears to be about 85% leaning masculine, and so many comedians are male, including musical comedians, from Alan Sherman and Stan Freberg to Weird Al and Cledus T. Judd. But every so often one of the ladies breaks through and reminds us all that the gals do like to let our hair down and poke some fun. Kacey Jones does it in style.

About Kacey Jones

Kacey Jones is the Queen of Nashville Comedy, joyously getting folks to laugh with her for decades in Music City as not only a comedian and singer/songwriter, but also as a producer. This powerhouse redhead with her sweet voice and serious skills has turned her hand to everything. Certainly she's a hilarious, popular comedienne, but she's also turned her sweet voice to the legendary songs of Mickey Newbury, produced the eclectic and critically acclaimed Kinky Friedman project, Pearls in the Snow (featuring the likes of Dwight Yoakam, Lyle Lovett and Willie Nelson, among others), and innovated country comedy in the 80's with her group Ethel and the Shameless Hussies. She signed with Curb Records in 1997 and continued to buck the male-dominated world of country comedy with the release of Men Are Some Of My Favorite People. She's also recorded a duet with the great Delbert McClinton, "You're the Reason Our Kids Are Ugly," and even got Kris Kristofferson to appear in one of her videos for the Mickey Newbury song, "San Francisco Mabel Joy." Jones doesn't sit still, or let the fates carry her. She's always ready with her next project, in this case, the uproarious Donald Trump'$ Hair.

Donald Trump'$ Hair - The Songs:

It's astounding to hear this sweet, delicate voice singing lyrics this vulgar, but dang it, it's so funny I was too busy laughing to be concerned. From the slapstick silliness of the title track, a tribute to The Donald's always amusing 'do (not to mention his wallet), to skewering the idea that a woman NEEDS a man to be happy ("I'm Living Alone and I Like It" and "It's Gonna Take One Helluva Man"), to a lament on how things used to be ("Whatever Happened To Kenny Rogers' Face?") or a tribute to things that make women happy ("Chocolate Stuff," which seems to be a musical salute to Paula Deen's butter-laden creations, and contains a real recipe, if you're a fast transcriber) or empowered ("I Wanna Be Up Front Like Dolly"), Jones is silly, irreverent, sly, and downright hysterical at times. My only problem with this disc was the inclusion of two versions of two of the songs, the "bonus version" of "One Helluva Man" and the "radio edit" of "I Can Always Get Skinny But You'll Never Be Tall." Both good songs, but it just feels like filler. Without these bonus tracks, the disc closes with one plain ol' serious song, which reminds one that Kacey Jones can really sing: a lovely version of the old "The Glory of Love." This track would be at home with any diva's version, from Bette Midler to Peggy Lee. Sometimes, ladies, it's okay to laugh.

""Donald Trump's Hair"" by Kacey Jones, Member MoKekko

This woman is so funny, and she's been consistently funny for years! Some so-called musical comedians are disappointments (Cledus Judd's lazy/shallow lyrics, know what I mean?) but Kacey Jones is wicked and witty and musically delightful. While I can't play every cut of this CD in front of my kid, I really loved the ""radio edit"" version of ""I Can Always Get Skinny But You'll Never Be Tall"" -- c'mon, ladies, we've thought it a thousand times, just never said it so well. I still crack up over her past triumphs -- ""I'm Not Bitter"" and ""I Miss My Man (But My Aim Is Getting Better)"" are two eternal classics!-- and this CD is hysterical new stuff. ""What Ever happened to Kenny Rogers Face?"", ""Christmas In Rehab"", ""Chocolate Stuff"" and the title track are fantastic company in the car. I wish she wouldn't take so long between albums -- Kacey Jones raises the funny-bar for everyone in music, and we all benefit!
