Holler Back Bottom Line:
The Lost Trailers are a diverse group of five men who come together to make great music. One of the hardest working acts on the road today, they poured their energy into this album, and it shows. The songs are fun to listen to and the harmonies are very good. It's a great end of summer album and definitely a keeper.About The Lost Trailers
The Lost Trailers got their start when Stokes Nielson and Ryder Lee met in a church band as teenagers. Their high school friendship was the foundation for a band of five that have grown up together, and for all purposes lived together, while on the road delivering great music to their fans. They are one of the hardest working bands on the road today, playing nightly shows around the country. They spent over 5 years doing over 300 shows a year and were virtually living on their bus while they traveled around the country. The Lost Trailers got their start with Willie Nelson, who invited them to perform at his annual Fourth of July Picnic. Nelson was so impressed that he invited them to open several other shows with him. Since then they have opened for major arena acts like Kenny Chesney, Dierks Bentley, Carrie Underwood and Trace Adkins. They put on a highly energetic show and their fan base continues to grow.
Nielson is the writer of the group, and six of the ten tracks on Holler Back has his name in the writing credits. Along with Nielson and Lee, the group consists of Manny Medina, Andrew Nielson, and Jeff Potter. While they are very diverse in their interests, they come together to make music that keep their fans clamoring for more.
'Holler Back' - The Songs:
Overall this was a really great album. There are the fun songs like "Holler Back", "Country Folks (Livin' Loud)," "Hey Baby" and "Gravy." Then there are a few songs with a more serious nature like "How Bout You Don't," "Things You Don't Grow Out Of," "The Rest of Us" and "All This Love.""Holler Back" is the first single from the album and hit the top 40 in the Billboard charts. It's a fun tongue in cheek song about terminology. 'Holler' means one thing if you are into the whole new lingo thing and something totally different if you are from the country. So they talk about a guy who goes by E-Diddy but his real name is Earl. And he talks about holler back when you get back home and dog, are you down with that. The response is that the only holler back that is known is the holler back in the woods where life is simple.
"Country Folks (Livin' Loud)" is another fun song about life in the country and having fun. Driving tractor all day long in the fields then cranking up Waylon, Nascar races, boots on the dance floor and Dixie cups of strawberry wine.
"All This Love" is one of the ballads of the album and really shows what these guys are capable of. She left and didn't look back and he talks about all the love he has left to give and how he had to pack their life away.
The Lost Trailers are a group we'll be hearing much more of in the future if they continue on their chosen path. Their sound continues to grow, mature and expand as they apply what they learn on the road to the music they make in the studio.
